Cardiovascular diseases are still the main cause of death in Belgium. Heart failure in all its different forms is an important entity in this. The follow-up and treatment of patients with heart failure has been a challenge for doctors for decades. That is why the Belgian Heart Failure Working Group (BWGHF) was founded in 2004. Yesterday, November 13, 2024, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the BWGHF.
Over the past few years, the working group has developed a first multidisciplinary care pathway for heart failure. The care pathway is accessible to everyone via a complete, unique and new website, set up in Dutch, French and English.
This website is an online platform with practical advice on the diagnosis, treatment, multidisciplinary follow-up and approach to various problems in patients with heart failure. The website is aimed at everyone involved in the care of a heart failure patient: patients and family, general practitioners, hospital doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists,... We strive for a better integrated collaboration between all care providers in order to improve the quality of care and the prognosis of heart failure patients in Belgium.
